As a book lover I really enjoy talking with people that are into books just like me, and while talking with them on social networks or in real life I understood that there are some feelings, some little things that we all experience while reading. I’m really amazed by the emotions that a single book can give, that’s why I decided to write a list of some of them.
Smelling the perfume of the ink on the pages and just staring at the page for a while to absorb the words before actually start reading
Reading compulsively for several hours because you’re physically unable to stop
Feeling the same emotions of the characters and being influenced by them without noticing it
Literally getting lost in a library while reading the first sentences of the books when their titles sound interesting
Feeling like you’re in the same place as the characters thanks to the descriptions
By saying this I mean that you can literally feel the wind on your skin or the sun on you face, or even the touch of a hand on your waist thanks to the writer’s words_
Talking with characters out loud, literally telling them what they should/shouldn’t do or confessing your love for them
Closing a book after you’ve finished it and just thinking about the crucial events because you’re not ready to let it go
Feeling satisfied after you’ve re-organized your books shelves
Feeling the desire of living in a book, especially if it’s a fantasy or an historical one
Feeling nervous when someone you care about is reading a book you recommended, because with that recommendation you gave them a piece of your soul and you really hope that they understand and appreciate it
Finding connections between a book and a song, or two different books, or even between a book and your own life, because what is a book if not a mirror that reflects art and the world in general?
I really hope that, while reading this article, you’ve remembered specific times when you experienced these feelings and maybe you felt like you’re home, surrounded by people who truly understand your love for books.
