I’ve noticed I haven’t been doing much lately, my life has turned into a dull routine I can’t seem to get out of. Each morning I wake up late and skip breakfast, then I stare at my phone/laptop all day and finally go to sleep very late at night. This is obviously a very toxic routine and I can’t maintain it anymore, which is why I’ve decided to write an article about 1O things to do when you’re bored, or just want to shake things up in your daily life. And keep in mind that while most things are better done with friends, it is crucial to take some time for yourself and go spend a day on your own to recharge or stay in touch with your feelings.
1. Go for a walk
Whether it’s early in the morning to wake yourself up gently or at the end of the day to admire the sunset, going on a walk is a great thing to do to pass the time and relax.
2. Learn to cook
Many of us learned it during quarantine: cooking is an amazing way to use your time efficiently and acquire new skills.
3. Clean your room
I know cleaning might not be your definition of fun, but you know, I’m a Virgo. Cleaning is something I love to do. I feel like organizing my space also helps me organize my thoughts somehow. So why not give it a try ?
4. Make a playlist
I’ve been making a lot of playlists recently, it has helped me develop my creativity which was kind of low these days. I love creating playlists for different people, moods, emotions or memories.
5. Go to the cinema
Pick a movie, buy some snacks, sit down and enjoy: it’s as simple as that ! I’ve always thought the atmosphere in cinemas was great to calm down and forget all your worries for an hour or two. This one is even better to do alone.
6. Go for a swim
If you’re looking for a very personal, unique pastime, this one will be perfect for you. Who doesn’t love swimming ? All you need is a pool, or a beach. Okay, I can see how difficult that can be when you live somewhere far from both of those things. Nevertheless, try it if you can.
7. Call your friends
This is a very important one. Not only for you, but for them. You never know what could be happening in your friends’ heads, so why not give them a call to remind them of how much you love them?
8. Take care of yourself
Choose a day to take care of yourself only. Do whatever makes you feel amazing, put on makeup, spectacular clothes, dye your hair or take a long bath, the important thing is to feel good in your own skin.
9. Re-read your favorite books
Make a pile of your favorite books and spend an entire day reading them all over again. Isn’t that heaven ? It is to me at least.
10. Do some journaling/drawing
At first I didn’t like the idea of journaling, but it has grown on me. The key is to let it be personal and let your creativity flow freely. And remember, there are no mistakes, you just have to write what you feel.
