Spending the holidays at home

Hey guys! It's the first day of December which means that the end of year holidays are getting closer. It's the season for oversized hoodies, Christmas movies, hot cocoa, and spending time with family. Although some of us may be used to staying at home over the break, others are facing changes to the way they spend the holidays. This pandemic has left so many people without the ability to travel where their family is, others without a home, and others missing a relative who's passed from COVID or any other reason. I know it's probably not that meaningful, but I see and understand what you are going through. It may be difficult right now, but you're so strong and able to make it through this.

I guess my intention with this article is to cheer you guys up with some fun holiday activities you can do, so you can make the most out of what you have during these holidays.

Remember: the holidays are also the time for giving and gratitude.

Without further ado, here are some holiday activities you can enjoy doing from home!

1. Bake and decorate cookies

Make some yummy treats to enjoy or you can buy ones already made and decorate them.

2. Make ugly sweaters

Decorate an old (or new!) sweater with tacky patches.

3. Create a Christmas playlist

Set the holiday mood for the rest of these activities with a playlist that makes you feel warm and fuzzy.

4. Do a writing challenge

For example you can do the "30 Day Writing Challenge" created by @saiilorjoonx.

5. Have a spa day

Try to spend some time to wind down and treat yourself with a loved one or by yourself.

6. Decorate your room

Hang up some string lights or decorate your room with DIY room decor to give it a seasonal vibe.

7. Give gifts

Find some things to gift to your friends and family. No gift is too small or too big :)

8. Tell someone you love why you're grateful for them

Send a text or tell them face to face why you are so grateful for them. It's a simple yet thoughtful way to cheer them up.

9. Watch holiday movies

I don't know why but holiday specials are so much better than regular TV show episodes or movies.

10. Donate or volunteer to a good cause

You can donate or volunteer virtually (in person if it's okay) to a helpful cause. Like dog adoption or COVID relief.

11. Make a fort

Get some bedsheets and your best pillows to build a fort to watch movies in.

12. Cook a new meal

Try out some new recipes.

Thanks for reading!! And happy holidays no matter what you celebrate this year! <3
